Srinagar, April 05 (KNO) : Train services were stopped on Friday morning after Sangan residents staged protest and demanded halt station in the area. Eyewitnesses told KNO said that residents of Sangdan and it's adjacent areas staged protest and asked authorities to stop train services. They said that they were demanding a halt station in the area. Railway station for sangdan was approved last year by central government but no work for the same has been executed yet, said a protestor. Pertinently Mehbooba mufti lead government had requested the opening of halt stations at Sangadan, Furrah-Monghal, Ratnipora, Nadigam, Razwan and Naina Batpora on the Baramulla-Banihal rail line for the convenience of a large chunk of the population. All the stations for which Mehbooba lead government had requested for were approved in March 2018 but so far no station among them has been functional. An official while confirming that train has been stopped at Qazigund said that a team of officials has reached to the spot to convince protesters. "Work on the newly approved railway stations will start in next two months," he said.(KNO)
